Cagayan De Oro City, October 7, 2023 – St. Peter’s College – Iligan proudly represented the private education sector as they made a remarkable mark in the 2023 Regional Invention Contest and Exhibits (RICE) held from October 4-5 in Cagayan De Oro City. Dr. Liwayway S. Viloria, Director for Research and Creative Works, along with Ms. Jeannette Louise S. Labial, Research and Publications Officer, stood out as finalists in the Outstanding Creative Research (Likha) Government Funded Category.
The competition, hosted by the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) Region 10, brought together 41 brilliant innovators and researchers from across Mindanao, including the BARMM region. Participants competed in five distinct categories, including Outstanding Utility Model (Unlad Award), Outstanding Industrial Design (Banghay Award), Outstanding Creative Research (Likha Award), and Outstanding Student Creative Research (Sibol Award) for high school and college students.
St. Peter’s College – Iligan was the only private educational institution to secure a spot among the finalists in this prestigious contest. Their outstanding research project, led by Dr. Viloria and Ms. Labial, showcased the college’s commitment to advancing creative research and innovation.
The Likha Award recognizes exceptional creative research projects funded by the government, and Dr. Viloria and Ms. Labial’s work undoubtedly met this standard.
